When the tank does not fit on the road
Our old website said it plainly: large products are not a problem for us, only for the transporter. That is why the factory is at the port of Ventspils.
A road rarely takes more than four metres. So in Valmiera we wind products up to four metres in diameter, and they leave by truck. Anything larger is made in Ventspils, where the vertical winding machine handles eight metres and the quay is right outside the gate. The port is ice-free all year.
Sometimes not even a ship will do. Then the machine travels instead. With the mobile winding machine, large shells are made at the customer’s plant. A scrubber eight metres in diameter and seventeen metres high was built that way, on site at the customer.
The picture from the port of Aarhus shows what that looks like in practice: a flue-gas condenser 5.5 metres in diameter that travelled by ship instead of by road.
